The effects of smoking on your skin
No matter how you
think at it smoking is a bad habit. Bad for your general health, especially for
your lungs, smoking is a serious threat for your skin as well. Along with sun and
chemicals it facilitates your skin ageing. This is particularly obvious on young
people as the first skin aging sings can be seen in about 10 years of smoking. So
by the age of 30 smokers they can show already such unpleasant symptoms.
Smoking reduces your blood vessels elasticity
therefore they will deliver less oxygen and nutrients to your skin. Slowly your
skin will be affected by the Vitamin A and oxygen deficit.
Alcohol has also a destructive
effect on Vitamin A. Your skin, the first layer of defense against diseases will
be weakened.
Skin uses Vitamin A to generate new cells. Vitamin
A is also used to produce collagen and is responsible for young looking skin.
If the skin is poorly fed and oxygenated then
it will ease the formation of free radicals. In time these components damage the
skin's elasticity and strength. A common result of such scenario is the early appearance
of wrinkles. Wrinkles around the mouth are more pronounced on smokers.
The point is that if you want to keep you skin
healthy, smoking and alcohol shouldn't be one of your permanent or occasional habits.
It is that simple!
